‘Excessive’ car faults
The percentage of vehicles rejected for minor faults at the Sockbum testing station was excessively high, the Paparua County Council iwas told. The chairman of the point Vehicle Testing Com- ■ mittee (Mr D. A. Anderson) 'said that the reject numbers were high despite every effort to persuade motorists Ito check their vehicles before the warrant of fitness test. Many of the rejects were for faulty lights, poorly adjusted headlights. and (Other minor faults, he said. Mr Anderson suggested that if these vehicles could be fixed on the spot, the efficiency of the station iwould be improved The committee held over I for further consideration a | proposal for on-the-spot adjustments to be done. The committee also re- | ported that Mr B. A. Thompison, supervisor of the station since it opened 10 years ago, would resign on October 31.
