MARKET RALLY CONTINUES IN ACTIVE TRADING

The New Zealand sharemarket rally, which resumed on Tuesday after last week’s lull, continued yesterday in active trading. The trend of the market was evident in the sales of Feltex, Fletcher, N.Z. Forest, and N.Z. Steel, which firmed throughout the day. A wider range of shares was sold, compared with Tuesday, and the rises were again at a high level.

A total of 480,450 shares was traded on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, including 50,000 special sales. The total was 154,550 more than on Tuesday. Industrial issues totalled 472,050 (323.000 on Tuesday), and 8400 mining and oil shares were traded (2900 on Tuesday. A total of 143 New Zealand issues was traded.
