Discussion 'stifled’
The presence of the public at committee meetings of [local bodies tends to stifle full and frank discussion, says the South Canterbury [Electric Power Board. [ This is to the detriment of [arriving at the best recommendations being made to the full authority, it says. The board has decided to seek the repeal of the Public Bodies Meetings Amendment Act which allows the media to report these committee meetings. It will submit a remit to its parent association asking the Government to repeal the act.
