Area darts
PA Nelson. The New Zealand Darts Association area No. 3 (upper half South Island) finals are being played in Motueka this week-end and qualifiers will go forward to the South Island finals (New Zealand semi-finals) at Balclutha next month.
Qualifiers yesterday were:— Men’s singles: D. Carpinter (Nelson), 7. wins; R. Caldwell (Greymouth), 6; N. Hutton (Timaru), 4; J. Thomas (Christchurch). 4.
Women’s singles: D. Aitken (Christchurch), 7 wins; K. Fraser (Nelson), 5; P. Hunter (Timaru), 4; C. Taylor (Greymouth), 4. Mrs Aitken scored her thirteenth 180 yesterday, the only maximum score so far in the tournament.
