England in trouble

NZPA-Reuter Londo England was two for 62 in their first innings at lunch on the opening day of the second cricket test against the West Indies at Lords early this morning (N.Z. time). The West Indies scored an early breakthrough when fast bowler Andy Roberts dismissed England’s opening batsman. Barry Wood, with only 15 runs on the board. His fellow opener, Mike Brearley, survived a confident l.b.w. appeal I com Roberts before the West Indies fast bowler had Wood caught off his gloves by wicket-keeper Deryck Murray for six while trying to fend off a short pitched delivery. Then England was dealt another blow when David Steele was trapped l.b.w. by Roberts for only seven, making it two for 31. Brearley and Brian Close then added 31 before lunch.
