Cook now in China
(N.Z Press Association)
WELLINGTON, May 17. The Wellington Embassy of the People’s Republic of China confirmed today that the Taiwanese squid boat cook, Chung Song-hoa, has arrived in China. He left Wellington by air last week but the embassy confirmed his departure for the first time today. He was a cook on the Kin Nan, which was seized off the Taranaki coast earlier this year.
In the Wellington Magistrate’s Court today a charge against Chung of entering New Zealand without a permit was withdrawn.
