Press Assn—Cnpyright > DUBLIN Divorce and legal contra ception will continue to be banned in Ireland for some | time to come, the Dublin Parliament has been told The Prime Minister (Mr Liam Cosgrave) told the Dail (Parliament) that his Government planned no legislation on the issues. His statement ended speculation stirred by two Ministers who recently said that the Irish State could partly shake off the grip of the Roman Catholic Church by permitting divorce and the sale of contraceptive devices. Mr Cosgrave said that the two Ministers, the Foreign Minister, Mr Garret Fitzgerald, and Mr Connor Cruise O'Brien, who is in charge of the Post Office, had been speaking personally and that there was no question of the Government introducing constitutional changes. The Prime Minister is a ■ well-known opponent of dtv- t orce and contraception. He ' caused a sensation two years < ago when he joined the Op- ‘ position temporarily to vote against a pro-contraceptives bill sponsored by a member of his own Cabinet
