It is not long before he is involved, with Laura Marshall (Prunella Ransome), a woman he' meets on a crosschannel ferry and uses as cover to escape from two “hoods”, in a plot woven with intrigue and suspense-. John Gregson was in great demand as a leading man in the 19505. Since then he has been cast mainly in character roles in films and his television parts have been related usually to the “police-criminal'’ theme. His series “Gideon’s Way” made htm a familiar face on television and he is often seen as guest star in similar programmes. His films include “Scott of the Antartic” (1948), “Whisky Galore” (1948), “The Lavander Hill Mob” (1951), “Genevieve” (1953), “The Longest Day” (1962) and “Night of the Generals’ (1966). Patlick Allen plays Roger Fane. Described as “lantern- ! jawed” he was cast in a var-> iety of villainous roles and | heroic parts before he be-i came established as TV’s! “Crane”. His film credits in-| elude “1984” (1955), “I Was : Monty’s Double’ (1958), ' “Night of the Big Heat”! (1967) and he also appeared! in "The Night of the Gen- | •rals” (1966). |
