Pacific Centre delayed
The establishment of ;a Pacific Women's Resources Centre in Fiji is [to be delayed for a month. It will now open jin June, says a news release from the Committee On Women in Wellington. One of the main reasons for the delay in opening the centre, which recently received a grant from the New Zealand Committee on Women, is to enable the organisers to find the highlyqualified staff needed to run it successfully. Claire Slatter, organiser of the Pacific Women's Conference held in 1975, says that she is very interested in bearing from New Zealanders who would be suitable for the positions of coordinator and research
officers at the Suva-based centre. The Pacific Women's Resource Centre is being formed as the result of a resolution passed at the Pacific Women’s Conference. It . will be responsible for collecting and disseminating information about women in the Pacific Basin, research into problems in the area, the formation of a skills bank, training women to meet the needs of individual Pacific communities, and providing representation and a voice for Pacific women at both regional and national forums. Applications for the positions with the centre will now close on May 31. New Zealanders who are interested in applying should contact Ms Slatter. C/o the Y.W.C.A., Box 534, Suva, Fiji.
