Greyhound week extended
The high point of New Zealand greyhound racing — the Cup week in early November — will become even more a punter’s dream or nightmare with the inclusion of another national championship in the same week.
The Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club has decided to hold the New Zealand championship at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Thurs-I dav evening. November 11. 1
It will fellow the galloping cup on Saturday and the trotting cup on Tuesday, and the Christchurch club’s president (Mr S. T. Taylor) said yesterday that it would be in established date.
Although it is doubtful whether on-course totalisator betting will be in operation this year, it seems certain to take effect in 1977.
The Cup week always attracts enthusiasts from throughout New Zealand and the decision of the club to run its major meeting during the Cup carnival should prove a rewarding one in future years.
