FIRE IN BEDROOM
Fire badly damaged a bedroom in a house at 36 Whiteleigh Avenue. Addington, early last evening. Two engines attended the blaze, which broke out about 5.30 p.m. Firemen were able to prevent the spread of the fire, but the contents of the bedroom were destroyed. It was a busy evening for the fire service, and at one stage firemen were attending seven calls simultaneously. These included three false alarms, two car fires, which caused minor damage, and a small fire in a woodchip container at Cressy Furniture, Ltd, in Saxon Street, Linwood.
