New concept in smorgasbord luncheon Since it’s introduction into N.Z. restaurants and hotels, the Scandanavian Smorgasbord has become an ever increasingly popular form of eating out. The idea of offering a serve yourself basis from a large selection of different dishes at a low realistic price, has now been taken a step further by one of Christchurch’s leading hotels. The Autolodge in Papanui Road will now offer during the cold winter months, a hot food style smorgasbord along with their large selection of cold meats and salads that their experienced chefs have immaculately prepared. A typical example of what they will now have to offer are a daily choice of soups, featuring their specialty seafood chowder (filled with wholesome fresh oysters), followed by a choice of hot meats, such as: Roast Beef and Yorkshore pudding or Lamb. Add to this, fresh vegetables, peas, carrots and roast potatoes, pour gravy over the top and you have a delicious meal. Follow this course with a helping of their hot puddings and if your appetite has still not been satisfied, help yourself to some more fine hot food, or try the Autolodge salad dishes. The Autolodge will also be running their “winter smorgasbord” as a Sunday luncheon and dinner, and so the whole family can enjoy this wonderful treat, children will only be charged at half price. The tastefully designed Autolodge is fully licensed and their cocktail bar is an excellent place to meet before or after your meal. Mr Chris Burks. the Assistant Manager, says of the winter smorgasbord “Try it! we know you will enjoy it!” The Autolodge, 72 Papanui Road. Phone 556-109. Advertisement.
