Grant wins closed squash
Mike Grant used his greater experience to good advantage when he beat Bruce Trangmar in an entertaining final of the Christchurch club’s closed squash championships during the weekend.
After Grant had won the first two games fairly comfortably, Trangmar fought back well to level the match but Grant was too good in the fifth.
Pip Lush, back in Christi church this season after a ispell ia Palmerston North, I came From behind in both the first and the third games ;against Jill Bruce to win the iwomen’s final in straight games. Men.— Semi-finals: M. D. Grant beat L. Wilson, 9-6, 9-2. 9-5; B. B. Trangmar beat N. A. Jdcur, 9-4. 9-7, 4-9, 9-7. Final: Grant beat Trangmar, 9-7. 9-5. 5-9, 5-9, 9-3.
Women.— Semi-finals: P. jLush beat A. Huriwai, 4-9, ;9-l, 9-6; J. Bruce beat B.
Dewar, 9-6, 9-2, 9-3. Final: Miss Lush beat Mrs Bruce, 10-8, 9-6, 10-8.
