f \ Ptcsx Afwciatior. WELLINGTON The Minister of Education (Mr Gandar> met the British educationist. Dr Edward de Bono to discuss the possibility of introducing thinking as a subject in , schools. ' Ur Bono, a specialist in thought processes and the (author of a number of books 'on what lie calls lateral | thinking, is m New Zealand i to ho d seminars on ways of - thinking. After the 30 minute meeting Dr de Bono said that he considered thinking to be a teaching subject as import ant as languages. social studies, and mathematics. He said 2500 schools tn England had begun thinking courses in the last two years and the results were alreadv becoming apparent, although children had tended to use the techniques in situations outside the classroom. Dr cle Bono, who recently appeared in the television show, “Edwards on Saturday. ’ said he had broughi no proposals to Mr Gandar. I but said the Minister had (shown a “very positive attiitude” to what be had told i him. He would have further I talks with curriculum officers in the Education Department.
