Injured shooter flown out
A man was flown to Christchurch by an Air Force helicopter yesterday afternoon after he injured his hand on a shooting trip in the Ashley State forest.
He is lan Robin Rush, aged 32. a forestry worker, of Ashley State Forest, who is shown walking from the helicopter accompanied by a St John Ambulance officer and an airman. Mr Rush suffered severe lacerations to his left hand and was flown to South Hagley Park, where he was met
by a St John ambulance. He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital, but was later taken to Burwood Hospital, which refused to give Mr Rush’s condition last evening. The accident happened in the morning at the Sandfly Lodge hut. near Pioneer River- Mr Rush’s companion walked to the Mount Thomas repeater station and contacted the police. A helicopter left from Wigram. picked the man up at 4.30 p.m., and arrived at Hagley Park at 5.15. It is not known how the accident happened. '
