I was Mrs Hughes, actress claims
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) FORT LAUDERDALE (Florida). The movie actress, Terry Moore, has said she was married to the billionaire recluse Howard Hughes in the late 19405, between Mr Hughes’s marriages to the socialite, Ella Rice, and the actress, Jean Peters. The known facts about Mr Hughes, who died aboard an aircraft between Acapulco and Houston last Monday, listed only the marriages to Miss Rice, which ended in divorce in 1929, and to Miss Peters, in 1957. Miss Moore told interviewers yesterday that the marriage lasted eight years, but declined to say where it took place or where they
were divorced. She refused to say if they had any children, but sad she plans no claim against the Hughes estate. She met Mr Hughes when she was 15, the 47-year-old Miss Moore said. “Howard was the greatest lover I ever had. He was the best,” she said. She waved gold rings and bracelets saying: “Howard gave me these.” She said she was writing a book, her autobiography. “My life was completely different than people thought. I know this sounds difficult to believe, but Howard wasn’t a materialistic man. He really wasn’t fond of money.” She also said: “I know Howard left a will and he left everything to medical research, because he told me many times that he was frugal so that he could leave his money to a medical foundation.”
