Alterations at Islington
The Islington freezing I works of Waitaki NZ' Refrigerating, Ltd, will close over the slack part of the year to enable j substantial alterations! to be carried out. Mr J. M. Ryan, assistant' general manager of the comany, confirmed that there would be a total cessation of mutton and lamb killing from May 10 and of beef killing’ from June 28. Alternative arrangements had been made for the killing of all types of stock, he said. The company’s stock buyers had been briefed about these. Mr Ryan said that the alterations were partly con-
jnected with hygiene require'ments, but substantially they involved improved processing methods and expansion of throughput. The latter pariticularly related to beef, and ■ involved the slaughterhouse, i chillers, and boning room.
