Mr Peter Hain, the British Young Liberal leader and . anti-apartheid campaigner, ’ was acquitted of bank rob- ( bery at the Old Bailey crimi|nal court on Friday. I The prosecution’s case rested on Mr Hain's identification as the robber iby the bank cashier and [three boys. The cashier admitted to doubt and one of 'the boys said flatly that Mr Hain was not the man. In spite of this the prosecution [proceeded. | After Friday’s verdict a number of Labour and Liberal parliamentarians called for the resignation of the | Director of Public Prosecutions (Sir Norman Skelhorn). Mr Hain himself said, intend to take steps. “I want to see that nobody else has to go through 'the same nightmare."
