Good newsbad news turnabout
One of the landowners affected by the proposed change could be forgiven for thinking that officialdom has it in for him. More than four years ago he decided to subdivide his land and gained council approval.
Work was about to start on the subdivision when the Government placed a letter of intent to purchase on tire land for the Rolleston project. Under the letter of intent no development whatsoever can be done.
While the letter of Intent was in force, the twoyear period of approval for the subdivision lapsed, and still not a sod had been turned.
Then, in a good newsbad news turnabout, the letter of intent was lifted from the land with the scrapping of the Rolleston project and, before he could re-apply to subdivide, the council brought down the proposed change.
