Athletics official off soon
One of Canterbury’s leading track and field officials, Dr R. W. G. Syme, is leaving next month on an overseas study tour which will keep him out of New Zealand for the next 12 months. He plans to spend some time in Scotland and a further period in the United States. A former Canterbury decathlon champion. Dr Syme was a member of the athletic control committee of the Commonwealth Games and is a member of the Canterbury Athletic Centre. He did not make himself available for the New Zealand Games athletic control committee because of the trip.
