McCormack’s Bay
Sir, — I am perturbed to discover that the City Council plan to extend "Soleares Avenue has not been forgotten. The Combined Estuary Association was successful in having McCormack’s Bay gazetted as a public reserve. If Soleares Avenue is extended to the causeway, this will pass through the reserve, creating a public nuisance. It will divide the reserve into two sections and will deny free movement within that part of the reserve. The article in “The Press” stated that the Mount Pleasant intersection is a traffic hazard. I checked with the Ministry of Works and discovered that there were several accidents involving injury at this intersection. I would ask the public to reject any move to have Soleares Avenue extended to the causeway. I would ask the Combined Estuary’ Association to write to the Minister of Lands, asking him to deny any application to have McCormack’s Bay interfered with in this way. — Yours, etc., BERNARD R. HANSEN. March 12. 1973. [The Town Clerk (Mr J. H. Gray) replies: “It is expected that as development continues on the hill, street improvements in this locality’ will become necessary; but no decisions have been taken nor are there likely’ to be any for some years,”],
