More crossbred wool in sale
A much higher proportion of crossbred wools than earlier in the season is included in the offering for the seventh Christchurch wool sale of the season, which will be held on Wednesday.
The offering is again a big one. and is expected to be between 30,000 and 31,000 bales.
For an April sale the wool is reported to have opened up very well. The full-length and secondshear crossbred wools include some very nice lots. These are of very good colour and good washing and yielding. The crossbred lamb’s wool is also as good as has been seen for some time, but some of the finer lambs are on the short side, although free of seed or carrying very little of it. Although colour has been starting to show up in wool coming forward recently, it is said to be no worse than at the last sale, and possibly even slightly better. However, both cotting and tenderness are in evidence. The wool is drawn from Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, and the West Coast, and a small selection is from the Chathams. While crossbred wool has recently been selling very well at very high levels, there has been a tendency for the market to ease slightly in the last few days. The order in which catalogues will be sold is: Wrightson NMa. Ltd. Pyne,
Gould, Guinness Ltd, Dalgety New Zealand, Ltd, and the New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association.
