If All of us paid enough Tax, Half of us could go On Super, at Forty-five, And the other Half produce enough for the Whole To remain, say. Half-alive — Including the Unemployed, who couldn't pay Much, But if we doubled the Dole. Couldn't we tax That too. getting Half of it back For the Good of the Whole? And with Wages down. Prices up. as Nature intended. People can't spend The Money that isn't There, now can they, Sir? Inflation must end — And as any Fool or Economist can confirm, Our Imports must fall: Indeed, if the System works, we ll hardly- need Any Imports at all — No Payments to balance, because there's Nothing to PayIn which happy Event. We can cut down Exports by any Amount you please, Say, 50 per cent! And a 65 per cent Devaluation of the Dollar (By the same Calculation) Means 15 per cent More for the Primary 7 Producer — Or. after Taxation. Call it 10 for the Fanners and 5 for the Government And overseas Debt — Allowing for Invisibles, and the Private Sector, And the Charges met. By which Time a mainly superannuated Nation will be content To go fishing, pay its Taxes, and grovel gratefully To the Government — AND. Sir. if You can't follow my Economics Or if you'd sooner Hear fiddling Rob. Im sorry — y our Ear's too dull For the finer Tuner'
