Brad’s Song due for win in Graduation Stakes
Brad’s Song was no match for Fancy Dick at Methven last Saturday, but he should gain his reward in the First Grad uation Stakes at Addington Raceway this evening.
Brad h Song has seldom been guilty of a bad run and. h»s efforts have deserved a better fate. Like quite a fex* of his rivals this evening. Brad’s Song will be try inc to justify a start in the $6OOO New Zealand Welcome Stakes on the final day of rhe meetins Fancv Dick meets Rrad’s S'-ng on 10m less favourable
11 terms than when he beat his j southern rival pointlessly at i Meth ven However, it is not khe handicap that could bring sj about the defeat of Fancy si Dick, but rather the difficulty > ’of avoiding interference from . ;tard\ beginners on the front, ipf Fancv Dick receives a reasonable run through. he s* should be more than a match ® for most in the race.
; Watbro Trick was not disgraced when fourth from 20m at Methven last week. He > was in the open for most of ! the way and it was late ’ when he began to shorten i his stride. He should be an . improved horse this week. Ruling Lobell, Dusky ■ Sound and Our Location are i others likelv to come in for solid support.
Five horses claiming en-i gagements in the $6500; Three-year-old Championship! on April 17 will create in-' terest in the Three-year-old; Stakes. However, they will need luck to finish in front of Lord Moose, which is not in the big race later at the meeting. Lord Moose disappointed at the Cheviot meeting, but ’ the race should have helped! fit him for this event.
Stars and Stripes, not long out of maiden company, has been a dashing winner at trials recently and, along with the Nelson challenger, No Truant, he should be among the top prospects. Billie Burke, Model Lord, ! Tarport Tobv and Kama Chief should also add interlest to the finish.
