Vicar visits Chathams
The recently appointed Anglican vicar of the Chatham Islands (the Rev. A. G. Sullivan) made his first visit there last week. While on the Chathams Mr Sullivan conducted two Eucharist se vices baptisms, and spoke to par hioners with personal problems. Mr Sullivan ’s continuingj wih his wnrx on the staff! of Sf Barnaba:- Church, Fen-1 dalton, and plans to visit the Chathams four or five! times a year. His next visit! [will be at Easter. The people of the Chat-! ■ hams made it clear they! wanted a minister living! among them, although he said he could not see this! i happening. It was hard to estimate [how many parishioners he had as other denominations [came to see him as well. ;A Roman Catholic priest lives on the Chathams.
1 Mr Sullivan was ordained [ tin Dunedin and served inj !parishes there and in Christ-! [church. He was chaplain at I St Margaret’s College for; ■ five years before joining St! [ Barnabas.
