Five new wine licences
The owners of supermarkets and grocery shops in Akaroa, Darfield, and I Methven will be allowe 1 to apply for one of the new wine resellers’ licences which have been granted in Canterbury. Five new wine resellers’' 'licences have been granted .dv the Licensing Control .Commission to Akaroa. Hornby, Darfield, Waimairi County and Methven. Although it is normal for the licence to go to a business ; which deals exclusively with the storage and sale of wines, jspecial consideration is given Ito areas where a licence may ! operate more successfully as part of a mixed business. Special provisions have I been made for Akaroa. Dar--1 field, and Methven, and the I successful applicants in these i areas will not necessarily have to run a wine shop. It is not uncommon for supermarkets in country areas to have wine resellers’ licences, but the Redcliffs Supermarket, which has been licensed for many years, is the only one in Canterbury.
