Neighbours 'Speak up’
(From Our Own Reporter) BLENHEIM.
. The “Speak Up” crimeprevention campaign has made a good start in Blenheim.
When thieves broke into a Spring Creek store on Tuesday night they were noticed by neighbours, who “spoke up,” and the police were quickly on the scene.
The thieves had removed a safe from the store, and were trying to break it open when they were disturbed. Nothing was taken from the safe.
One man was arrested, and will appear in court this week, and the police are looking for several other people who might have been involved.
The police also took possession of a Christchurch rental car which was used in the burglary.
