Gay Master wins Cup
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Crspdt) SYDNEY. The former South Island horse, Gay Master (Kurdistan — Short Sentence), winner of the 1975 Sydney Cup, scored a surprise win yesterday in the $lO 500 Mornington Cup at Mornington, near Melbourne. The seven-year-old gelding raced to the lead at the turn and had the race won with 250 m to go. Grand Scale (Gigantic—Te Poll, another seven-year-old, was second. with the Australian-bred three-year-old, Impeller running third.
Among the other New Zealand horses in the Cup, Irish Fair was fifth and Woolaway eighth.
