Wants N.Z. board for A.M.P. Soc.

New Zealand policy holders in the A.M.P. Society should have their own board of directors and their own annual

general meeting in .New Zealand, says Miss Edna Tait, of Wellington.

Miss Tait is one of two members of the A.M.P. Policyholders’ Protection Association contesting a seat on the Sydney-based board of directors again this year. “It is ridiculous,” she says, “that I should have to go all the way to Sydney to attend my own insurance company’s A.G.M. We should have our own, separate one here in New Zealand. After all, the money New Zealand policy holders invest with the A.M.P. stays in New Zealand. Why then should that money be controlled from Sydney?

“What we need is our own board of directors with half the members elected by New Zealand policy holders and then we could have annual general meetings which are truly accessible to New Zealand policy holders.”

“STAR OF MEETING” Last May Miss Tait flew to Sydney to attend the annual general meeting of the life insurance company, at which she raised a number of questions concerning New Zealand policy holders’ interests. The “Australian” newspaper

described Miss Tait's speech as the highlight of the meeting. The “National Review,” a financial weekly, named her “the star of the meeting.” Miss Tait is a senior teacher at a Wellington secondary school and has been

very active in a number of local and national bodies for many years.

She is a member of the executive of the Council for Equal Pay and Opportunity, an executive member of the New Zealand Post-Primary Teachers’ Association and president of the Institute of Management Public Speaking Society.
