Youth workers seminar

A seminar arranged by Youth for Christ for youth leaders who want an effective, well-planned and lasting youth programme will be held in the Town Hall conference rooms on April 3.

The director of Youth for Christ in Christchurch (Mr R. C. Parker) said that over the last five to six years the organisation had tried to help youth leaders, particularly “ those involved with church work, to present good lasting programmes to attract young people. Resource material had been made available but it was found last year that vouth leaders required more vital youth programmes. Two seminars have been

planned this year to help them. The first would draw from the youth leaders the frustrations they had in their local church programmes, said Mr Parker.. It would determine what material they needed and this would be supplied. During the seminar, Mr Parker will lecture on his experiences with youth programmes overseas, and a member of the Andes Evangelical Mission (Mr R. Wiebe) will also speak. The remainder of the time would be spent in react discussions, Mr Parker said. In June, another seminar will be held when answers will be fed back to youth workers.

The seminars are aimed mainly at church youth workers.
