Canine caper

A meeting of the Riccarton Borough Council’s town planning committee was interrupted last evening when a dog wandered into the council chambers.

The dog, which had followed two members of the public into the chambers, easily evaded pursuers as it proceded on an inspection tour.

Finally, the dog wandered beneath the chair of the Mayor (Mr R. W. J. Harrington), who captured it and carried it to the door

Inspecting the registration on the dog’s collar, he commented wryly: “What else do you expect—it’s a Waimairi dog.”
