Vegetables—but not for eating

"Opportunity Knocks” on TV2 tomorrow night will feature a contestant with a range of instruments that are not likely to be found in the average symphony orchestra, or band. The guitar, trumpet, or xylophone are not for Colin Minifie. He is more interested in playing vegetables, particularly carrots, butternuts, and silverbeet. He is also a dab hand with a pound of butter, and he will play all these instruments in the show tomorrow. Colin took up playing vegetables as a bet and as a change from the instruments he was playing in a band.

The other contestants this week are rather more conventional.

The Inspiration Showband tyill play "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights”, Eddie Clifford will be singing "Help Me Make It Through the Night”, Jacqui Lawrence will sing "Daniel” and Christine Lloyd will be singing “Burlington Bertie” and dancing. In the second half of the programme, the duo Brinwood and Owen will sing “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” and Anne Crummer, “5.0.5.” The contestants are all from Auckland.
