Chinese deported

TAURANGA, March 16

Two Chinese brothers who were gaoled after the murder of a West Indian seaman at Mount Maunganui in September, 1973, have been deported after serving several years in gaol.

Detective Les Pearce, of Tauranga, and a Wellington policeman are escorting Yau Ping Kai and Yau Kwpng Chuen to Hong Kong.

The brothers, crew members of a visiting ship, were convicted of the murder of the seaman in October, 1973, after evidence was given about a knifing outside a Mount Maunganui hotel.
