f.VZ Association) WANGANUI, March 16. , Unions were likely to press for new superannuation schemes in award negotiations, to replace the cover lost by the axing of Labour’s scheme, said the president of the Federation of Labour (Sir Thomas Skinner). “And we are going to get them, too,’’ said Sir Thomas in a telephone interview. Speaking from his Auck-| : land office, Sir Thomas said' 1 that the F.O.L.’s nationalcouncil had discussed whath action his organisation could 11 take to oppose the Govern- ! ment’s move to stop contributions to the New Zealand! "We don’t like it, but that’s the way it is.” He doubted whether a scheme which could match the New Zealand one on portability' could now be introduced. “The people against the* scheme voted for a Government that wanted :r scrapped.” The president of the Drivers’ Federation (Mr K G. Douglas, of Wellington) j said that drivers’ unions would probably press for a superannuation scheme in 1977 award negotiations. The scheme would cover 21,000 drivers throughout the country. There had been a “fair amount” of discussion I among members on the need, to replace the New Zealand' scheme. “We have no concrete proaosais yet. We will need to; enow what changes are nade to the Superannuation ' 'Kct before we can make iefinite moves,” said Mr ' Douglas. j 1
