M. Bayley had good start
The unaudited group net profit of Michaelis Bayley, Ltd, diversified Australian manufacturer and distributor, rose 13 per cent to $980,000 in the six months to December 31, the directors say in a half-yearly report. Group sales rose 12.5 per cent to $27.4m, while the group trading profit rose 11.4 per t ent to $967,000. The result was after providing $64,000 more for tax at $725,000, and $67,000 more for depreciation at $402,000. Interest charges rose $44,000 to $376,000.
A steady interim dividend of 7c a share (7 per cent) is payable on April 9, ex dividend March 22.
Ice cream profitable
Petersville Australia, Ltd. the ice cream, dairy and food group, had a record half-year to December 31, with profit up about 40 per cent. The profit was said to have stemmed from strong demand for major products, and a return to profit by the icecream division. The directors said that it is too early to predict the full year’s result, but on present indications a useful gain should be shown.
