PRICES EASE ON QUIET MARKET
There was a further easing of share prices on a quiet New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. A feature of the day’s trading was the range and volume of sales of Northern Steam. The reaction of the market to the qualified recommendation of the Brierley take-over offer, resulted in 51.0(H) Northern Steam shares being sold at prices ranging from 158 c to 182 c. The largest parcel of shares, 14.000 solid’at 170 c. The five mostactive issues accounted for 46 per cent of the shares traded.

FALLS
Bid for Amoco assets Ampol Petroleum, Ltd. and H. C Sleigh Ltd, have asked Amoco Australia, Pty, Ltd. whether it would be interested in selling its assets in Australia. Amoco, which is wholly owned by Standard Oil Company of Indiana, has replied that it will review a bona fide joint offer, and then determine whether there is sufficient ground for further discussion.
