A team of United States’ officials left New Zealand on Thursday after making elaborate preparations for the visit next month of VicePresident Nelson Rockefeller. Led by Mr .Joseph W. Canzery. a snecial assistant to Mr Rockefeller, the team included a State Department representative, a “communicator" (for liaison with the White House), and a security official. Thev arrived on Tuesday to look at places the VicePresident will visit, arrange his schedule, and generally! supervise protocol matters. The four also had talks with the New Zealand committee, under the chairmanship of Sir Patrick O’Dea. i which is looking after arrangements.

Mr Rockefeller is due to arrive at Ohakea on Thursday. April 1. after a visit to five other countries. He will have meetings with the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) and the Cabinet, and be guest at a State luncheon and a reception at Government House before leaving on Saturday, April 3.

Chess.—The Soviet world champion Anatoly Karpov has taken the Lead in an international chess tournament at Skopje. Yugoslavia, with a win and a draw.
