Improvements at Hokitika

i From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. The Racing Authority has approved plans for improving the Westland Racing Club’s track at Hokitika. The president of the club (Mr J. F. Keenan) said yesterday that the work, which will cost many thousands of dollars, will start within two months with the widening of the back straight to allow the running of 12 horses instead of 10. This work will be completed before the club’s November meeting. The second stage, after that will include moving the 1200 m start and chute some distance to the west and eliminating much of the sharpness of the bend into the back straight. This corner will also be banked. The club also intends widening slightly the entrance into the front straight and easing and banking the bend out of tile straight.

it Is also hoped that 16 to 18 additional stalls will be available for the November meeting.
