Shavande in sound trial for Hororata Cup
Shavande advanced in favour for the Hororata Gup on Saturday when he won the main event for pacers at the Addington trials yesterday.
Shavande moved up with 1200 m left and finished too well for Bradleigh, which lost Srround at the start. He took 3:30.6 for the 2600 m. a sound effort as he had to race three times into a strong easterly wind.
Shavande took 1:3 for his last 800 m. with the final > 40Om tn 32.8. He was driven yesterdav by Doodie Townley. who will handle him at! Hororata. Robert Cameron, who is' at present training Shavande; and his stablemate, Tactful,, will be driving at the Wyndham meeting, where he will hand e Captain Ucody, Black! Stump. Jennv Charles and Quick Hanover. Peter Jones will also drive at the Wyndham meeting,, ■-vhere his drives will include; Star Chance. Tar Foyle, Two: Seventy, kola MeKinnev, * and Glen Forbes. Bradleigh ran on solidly: for his second placing after an early lapse. Tactful, which has the Cheviot Cup on Saturday week as her next mission,, fought on strongly for third, half a length from Bradleigh. with a similar margin to| Thelmaur.

most of the pace and held on for second, ahead of Question Mark, King’s Cross and Clubmoor.
The other race for trotters ( resuited in an easy win for j Armbro Lady, which had I plenty in reserve at the end lof 2600 m in 3:36.6. the final 1800 m in 1:3.2. Armbro Lady I looks to be close to her best . for engagements at AddingIton Raceway next month. Robert Hodgen, which is I engaged at Hororata, did ! well for a horse in his class jto finish second, ahead of i Big Poplar, which had an | early break and did well to (finish so close. Another Day finished fourth — a good performance — ahead of Strathspey, which will do his future racing from Jack Smolenski’s I team. i Starport won the first heat i for two-year-olds in 2:49.7 j for 2000 m, the last 800 m in ! 1:3.4. Charming Pride was I never far away and took I second, ahead of Ruling iLobell, which tangled near ’the finish. She came down pacing and looking to be travelling well at the end. Steven Charles (Young ! Charles—Braebum) showed promise when he came from a fair way back to win the other heats in 2:49.5, the last 800 m in 1:2.7. He won by a head from Armbro Dhu, with a length to Lordable and a head to Sunseeker.
Spartan Prince did best of the eight two-year-old trotters to parade. There was merit in his nose win over My Tuft as he broke after about 140 m when taking fright at a shadow high up on the track. The winner took 2:53.2 for the 2000 m, the last 800 m in 1:4.2. He will contest a nontotalisator event for two-
