The R.C.M.S. and the orchestra
Sir. —The petition referred to in the article in Saturday’s issue of “The Press” recorded addresses only, not affiliations. As one of the 900 signatories who also happens to be among the 60 found during your reporter’s research to be choir members
or subscribers of the R.C.M.S., I wonder if she discovered the equally significant facts that I am a member of the Association of Anglican Women, live in St Albans and dislike porridge? No pressure was brought to bear on me by the R.C.M;S. to sign the petition. The important facts about those 900 signatories are that they know a great wrong has been done with tragic consequences, and that, hoping to see justice prevail and funds restored to the C. 5.0., they were endeavouring to calf a halt meantime to actions of the Trust which might later be difficult for the C.S.O. to honour in view of the Arts Council’s admitted shortage of funds. —Yours, etc., R. W. HENDRY (MRS). March 6, 1976.
