The Opposition has criticised the Government for allowing private contractors' a monopoly on some Government projects, while sug-j gesting that Ministry of Works employees should be put on a four-day week. i In a statement today, the Opposition spokesman on works, Mr R. L. Ba'lev (Heretaunga), said the Government was “committing a grievous error in showing favouritism by employing only private contractors on the Wellington urban motorway.” Contractors on the motor-' way were paid on a costplus basis, Mr Bailey said, i This meant that some work-1 men on the sites were being i paid overtime for a 10-hourl day. while Ministry work-' men were being taken offj the job. i
