Blankets for festival
Several thousand Army! blankets will keep the; 1200 performers participating at the South Pacific Festival of Arts warm at night, during the festival, which will begin at Rotorua on .March fi, the Press Association reports from Rotorua. Three trucks from the Ngaruawahia military camp transported the blankets tb the 18 Rotorua maraes where the participants will stay. Most of those attending come from markedly warmer climates than NewZealand and the organisers, in co-operation with the Health Department, have arranged for a special emergency health clinic to be set up. Influenza and the common cold are two ailments ■ the organisers believe some Pof their guests might be particularly susceptible to. '
Cheque on hubcap ' A fund for extension work to the Hamilton Children's Home has been boosted by SISO in an unusual manner, when a local motor companypresented a cheque inscribed on a hubcap. The Salvation Army needs about $70,000 for extension to the home known as “The Nest.” which houses orphans, children from broken homes, and' children needing emergency > accommodation.
