Australian markets weaken
Australian sharemarkets were easier yesterday as profit-taking pared most of the gains in the previous days.
I BHP at 730 c was down 6c. David Jones was raised 5c ;to 130 c on better results and the issue news but Woolworths lost three cents to 136 c. Amatil, Elders GM, Myers, [the Wales, Philip Morris, and Pye were down. Among the miners PekoWallsend rose 20c to 520 c, and Utah 14c to 950 c after UDC’s sharp quarterly-profit rise. Pancontinental fell 180 c to 1100 c and Qld Mines 10c to 210 c. Bougainville, CRA. Robe River, Ocean Resources, AAR and Woodside Burmah also eased. Cons Gold was cut hack 17c more at 225 c.
