World Day of Prayer
“Education for all of . life” is the theme of i i World Day of Prayer, to be held this year on ; March 5. ' The Christian women of ’.Latin America, who contri'.buted this year’s order of ’.service, have invited people throughout the world to join ’ in celebration and prayer on ythis day. More than 200 '|countries are likely to parti.'cipate. I The order of prayer, in a four-page booklet, includes ’ hymns, songs, short plays ’ with emphasis on water, - prayers, and congregational responses. A special service has been devised for children with a II song. and story of “Pedrito, the peasant boy.”
The New Zealand convener [} of the World Day of Prayer ;(Mrs G. Barton) said that ’.about 35,000 orders of serVvice had been sent out in New Zealand. In Christchurch, groups f| have been meeting with their - conveners to decide on serfivices. Most have yet to conel firm venues and times. t A special lunch-time sern'vice has been planned to i):enable those who work in - the inner city to attend. It I will be in the Cambridge a .Terrace Methodist Church, sifrom 12.10 p.m. to 12.50 s p.m. An interdenominational ■.. service will also be held in I'St Anne’s Roman Catholic ■Church. Woolston, at 2 p.m. tjln New Zealand last year, a; about 500 churches held f; services. Five hundred passengers aboard the ship Royal Viking ■Sea. soon to land in Singapore, will also have the opIportunity to take part. Mrs: Barton has sent an order of service to a minister on I :board, who hopes to organise! a service. i
