Council aid to library

A report in “The Press” that Riccarton did not contribute to any local library was. I denied by the Mayor of Riccarton (Mr R. W. J. Harring-, ton) at the borough council 1 meeting on Tuesday night. The council paid $6OO. or ■9c a head of population, for books, and $l4OO for other library charges, or 19c a head, towards the cost of the borough library, he said. “We have made arrangements to increase the size of the Riccarton library, and a report on this is expected J soon.” he said. "We have plans also for updating. “People pay 10c a book and < we don’t ask them where they I come from.” said Mr Harrington.
