Decision on Rangatira may be soon

WELLINGTON, Feb. 25.

The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) announced today that he was hoping a decision on the fate of the Rangatira could be announced "within the next day or two.” A final decision on the fate of the inter-island ferry Rangatira is not likelv today, a spokesman for the Minister of Transport (Mr McLachlan) said at noon. On Monday, the Cabinet reached an interim decision, and Mr Muldoon said he hoped to be able to make an announcement about the vessel by today. The Government has been discussing future plans for the Rangatira with the Union Steam Ship Company, which ! charters the ferry to the Government.
