Findlay stands out

Stephen Findlay, with tou. wins in four events at the cycle meeting at Denton Park last evening, was the outstanding rider. Entries were down on previous meetings because top riders were away for the New Zealand track championships, which start in Invercargill today. A strong north-west wind left weaker riders struggling. Bevan Gyde followed Findlay’s ‘example arid won all the B grade [events, but both the C grade and the amateur events were divided. Francis Groenendaal and Mark Andrew both had wins in their under 16 events, while David Hamilton won three amateur races and Phil Eder, who came right as the night progressed, took the last two.
