W.D.F.F. conference

Because of the amount of I horror, violence and science: fiction in t hem many of the I programmes on television in the afternoon should bei shown at a different time, it was submitted at the interprovincial conference of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers at Cheviot. Television and film violence was believed to affect the actions of children and teenagers, and it was decided that these shows would be better shown in the evening.

The Minister of Broadcasting could be assisted in programme reviews by children of varying ages. A collection of $ll7 was taken at the conference for

earthquake victims in Guatemala. The aid from W.D.F.F. will be sent through the Red Cross.

The national president of New Zealand Young Farmers Clubs (Mr D. Anderson) submitted a report on the national convention of Future Farmers of America, in November. The association is concerned with agricultural education in schools and has a membership of over half a million.

The delegates passed a remit that the W.D.F.F. sponsor a representative from the N.Z.Y.F.C. to the world conference of the F.F.A. in the United States later this year.

“The Dutch people are terrific flower givers. To get men into the feeling of flowers is important — for marriage, anniversaries, or the birth of a baby,” said Mrs Morley.

“Flowers leave a feeling of peace and tranquillity at a person’s death and it is a sad funeral without them,” she said.

Mrs Morley has been a florist for 26 years. “My work is very involved in people’s emotions. It is rewarding because you are creating something of beauty that someone is going to admire and get a lot of pleasure from,” she said. The standard of floristrv lis high in New Zealand, said Mrs Morley, and it is well i regarded overseas. “Florists are highly artistic people,” 1 she said.
