Somerfield bus service
Sir, —May I inquire why the last bus to Somerfield yesterday (Friday) did not stop at the Hagley Avenue stopping place near the hospital? The fine sense of duty and responsibility of that driver was not disclosed to me during my long walk home. “No bus oblige” seems to be his motto. —Yours, etc., A. J. GERITY February 7, 1976.
[The general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr M. G. Taylor) replies: “The driver of the 10.40 p.m. bus to Somerfield on February 6 says that he did not see anyone waiting at the stop in Hagley Avenue and that he would certainly have stopped had he seen anyone, more particularly in view of the fact that it was raining. I apologise for the inconvenience, experienced, which was obviously caused by a human, but nevertheless regrettable, error.”]
