N.Z. MARKET OPENS ON FIRM NOTE
The New Zealand sharemarket began the year on a firm note yesterday, with rises exceeding falls by seven to one in quiet trading. Insurance and finance issues were in favour, and the mining and oil sector showed a firming tendency. New Zealand stock exchanges will be open for one trading session a day this week.
